What is your favourite aspect of the INSPIRE Awards?

"My favourite aspect of the awards is that it is an evening of celebrating the unsung heroes and sheroes, it's all about love and positivity. Taking time to recognize people that do things because they want to and would never expect to be rewarded or honored for it - until the Inspire Awards were created."

What should we expect from you at the Awards?

"Oh I don't know - It's just an honor to be able to be part of such an incredible evening. Everyone else does all of the hard work and I get to stand on stage and be funny and give people their awards. "

Why is celebrating people an important thing, and why are community organizations such as INSPIRE Awards important to yourself and our LGBTQ+ community?

"Our community has always been slightly divided, whether it be the bar scene, politics etc. - but on this night, everyone comes together to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of individuals that really make a difference in our community."

Our theme this year is We Are Family, what or who makes up your family?

"My family is made up of blood relatives, friends, colleagues, community members and people I have never met. "

What do you love about our LGBTQ+ community and what can we do more of to improve?

"Well I have been out for a loooong time so that is a huge question. I love that our community is resiliant, doesn't take 'no' for an answer, pushes to move the world forward to place of equality-a place we should already be but there's still much work to do."

What inspires you personally?

"Everyone on the front lines and side lines that are moving our community forward. My son inspires me every day by being an open, loving, caring soul. I often sit back and watch him and see a beautiful innocence and appreciation for so many things that I can't help but take a deep breath and remember to appreciate both the large and small things in life."
